Jay Macmillan is an Emmy Award-winning Film Editor based in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.

With over two decades of experience, Jay has edited films that have premiered at Sundance, CPH: DOX, DOC NYC, Telluride Mountainfilm, and Banff Mountain Film Festival; screened theatrically worldwide; and been distributed on Amazon, PBS, and CBC. His work has earned numerous festival awards, multiple Vimeo Staff Picks, and over 10 million views online.

Jay has collaborated with leading brands including National Geographic, The North Face, Patagonia, Sony, the NBA, and Red Bull Media House.

Specializing in creative nonfiction storytelling, Jay brings a sharp editorial instinct to complex, character-driven narratives. His work prioritizes emotional depth, compelling structure, and an immersive style that lets the story lead.

Jay is also the co-founder of Halcyon Post and the card game Wild Yak. Outside of work, he enjoys watching films, collecting vinyl records, and spending time in nature with his wife, Laura, and their dog, Maggie.
